It is important for the investigator/ detectives to have direct contact with the genealogist in several ways.

It is important for the genealogist to know if there is case background to support a particular pathway of investigation.  It is also important for the genealogist to ensure that no actions disrupt a sensitive investigation

Additionally, the genealogist may provide the investigators with information during the pathway of research that could quickly accelerate and help an investigation.
